Mattie's brother, BART

Do you know what this is?
Guess who can go through it.
BART.
Bart the brave.
Big Bart
BB
Black Bart
Beautiful Bart
my big boy BART!
Blind Bart.

POP goes the new dog.

All around the new dog's crate,
The blind dog bumps into things,
The new dog thought, "I like this game",
POP goes the new dog.

I smell wabbit!

I don't eat wabbits.  I won't chase wabbits.  I am a civilized girl.
I don't eat wabbits.  I won't chase wabbits.....my humans are going to tell the neighbors they should watch their wabbit.    I saw lots today on my walk....I think I like squirrels now too.   I don't eat wabbits...civilized girls eats crunchy bits.   I won't eat a wabbit.   However I do like ipod computer cords.

Walking, Playing and other stuff

Mattie is a walker.   Not  walk across the room walker, but a true put me on a leash, stand me at the door and walk off down the side walk for 40 minutes kind of walker.    I have never lived with walkers.   Pugs are not walkers, at least my pugs aren't.   Mine, even as young and handsome pug boys,  were once around the block, find me some water, take me a nap type of walkers.   Lots of heavy breathing and trying to hide under parked cars for shade was our pug walking..   Not Mattie girl....dog of the wild..... who has learned  some skills somewhere in her former life.    Playing is about the same as walking..... but you have to consider the material she has to work with.   A grumpy pug and a blind one.   She likes the grumpy one the best.    I find her trying to lift him up with her nose and he just rolls off and looks at her like  "grow up" and walks away to find a new place to nap.    She tried the same trick with Bart the blind boy and did it close enough to a food bowl he thought someone was battling him for dinner...so he growled and she quit....he walked away all blind and furry stiff and she went to her corner to pout.

We have it!

The universal sign of a happy dog?  Tail wagging.    We have tail wagging.    We still have tail between the legs and her "i'm a rug" move where she goes flat and motionless....but this weekend we added tail wagging!!

I think our girl is afraid of the dark.    She is not wanting to go into the backyard on a leash.  She always keeps looking for the house and door. Once we start walking back towards the house/door, she picks up her pace and is dare I say  HAPPY!

She's home. Part Two.

Our dog catcher wore flip flops, a rubber bracelet and drove a Dodge wagon.
He's today's hero.  Mattie walked up to us and in like she owned the house, ate 4 scoops of food and is now taking a nap.    Thank you kind man.

She's home.

Ollie is still aloof, Bartie is going to continue to run into her.   Notice  the man trouser legs and hands.   He's camera shy and our pack leader.   He is leader of wild woman Mattie,  our two tooth (almost but not really) wonder of grumpy aloofness and the blind happy dog who gets two insulin shots a day and has the leader trained to provide snacks upon command   WOOF.
She came with instructions for a quiet first week. s

We're adding to the family!

Meet and greet is over and Mattie is schedule to come home on Tuesday evening if her vet tech visits and procedures go as planned.    We had no idea things would move that quickly.     Ollie was aloof and interested; Bart found her,  sniffed her and wiggled his tail, then he turned around and lost her.     No aggression from any dog just a frightened Mattie who is still pretty wild but did allow us all to pet her.

Pictures from the Town Lake Animal Shelter

I saw her today.

Today I went to the Town Lake Animal Shelter to see Mattie.      She was cautious, but she licked my fingers through the mesh and wagged her tail some and then it seemed she decided that was enough for today and moved to the back.    I found a chair and pulled it up and just sat and watched volunteers working with another dog in the agility course behind us and  noticed that Mattie also seemed interested and was watching closely too and had moved back to the front by the entrance where I sat.    I spoke to a volunteer and    she read the notes written already by Mattie's walker who listed her as "partly feral but good on a leash and friendly with wagging tail when greeting other dogs."
She gave me a nifty red vest and said I could go inside her cage but I couldn't walk her.    Once inside, she was more cautious than before and just sat in the corner and looked at me.      I took some pics with the phone, and noticed the sound of the camera was disturbing to her...so I stopped.    s

Meeting with the boys

Sunday the pug brothers meet Mattie.   Ollie usually falls in  love with the girls and Bart won't be able to see her, so it should be fun!
