Good dogs

See the tiny white whiskers and doggie hair?   The white hair on her chin almost makes her look old but when you see her leap two pugs and a set of stairs to come inside, you know she's not.

And speaking of old
how bout these old boys...

despite the new doggie door, B can't always find it and has some accidents.   Here he is sleeping in the kitchen...but when O was given the chance to make a break before the gate went up....he sat down by old B and stayed put.   Brought tears to their mommy's eyes.
13 and 11.....they've shared some pretty good years together.

Is there such a thing as TOO comfortable?

I spent most of today here.    I had to fight her to get my spot back every time I was up.
Either she is a very visual learner or she has had experience with pillows.   I still wonder what her life was like before she was a wild dog...and the Hospira doggie...and now our girl.

Naughty or Nice

Naughty:  she's on the sofa and probably should get down
Nice:  she feels at home and comfortable in her new place

It's good to have goals

Don't get excited...it's not Mattie.  But one day maybe?   Currently if a ball is tossed her way...she picks it up and walks away.    This is an improvement actually.   Just weeks ago anything tossed her way sent her tail ducked running in the opposite direction to hide.   There's one other problem too. We'll have to master the not running away from your mom or dad before we can get to this.   But, it's good to have goals.

More importantly...pack leader is in love.   He won't admit it, but it's true.   He's in love.

Mattie's other brother Ollie!

This is Ollie.   Hey.."I'm not gonna look at you" and I'm always aloof Ollie!

"Ok..I'll look.:

"I'm done and you're boring."
Just so you know...his most exciting event of the day is changing his nap from the front sunny window to back sun by the back door in the afternoon.

This is his plea for help.  "help"
The grout doesn't even look dirty in this pic..just tan.
Ollie is a victim of stalking.   Food stalking.
He eats slowly.  Some days he doesn't finish he eats so slowly.
Bart knows this and waits quietly still until he hears Ollie move...then he approaches quietly( like no one sees or hears the blind baby when he hits the wall or a chair) he's not subtle.   He wants the leftovers Ollie leaves.
Ollie always leaves leftovers because as I said he eats slow and sometimes he gets tired from eating and needs to nap or lay down somewhere immediately.    This use to be a fun game for Ollie and Bart but now he needs help.  "help".     Mattie has figured out Ollie leaves food.   She has figured out it will take my blind baby a little bit of time to find the leftover food and now she is also a stalker.    Poor Ollie...he eats and looks around and then gobbles and coughs and looks around.    He jumped Bart this morning and Bart wasn't EVEN close just because he knew someone was coming for his food bowl and this morning he wanted his food.  "help"

Dog Door School

She gets an A.   Finally...everyone can use the door.  It took a cute, blind black pug to show these goons the way....but we have success!   I like the way she's looking at me...like...what's the big deal?   A few weeks ago I had to drag her furry scared self from across the yard and shove her through it .  Now it looks like we're good with the door.

Dog Art in Missouri

If you like dog art of a brightly colored mixed media style....go  to:    http://www.flinn-designs.com/flinn_designs2.htm
We found a piece we loved "Who Rescued Whom" and took it home when we were in Missouri visiting college girl who meets Mattie in 4 weeks.     Go Tigers!    FYI...because I have already told everyone else...if you want to go to college and get a degree and play your sport...Missouri is the place to be...they have the highest NCAA Academic Passing Rate overall for the Big XII.
OK..done now.

this is what she does outside.
when she's not chewing chair cushions or lounging under a bush in the grass ( no pics of that because she won't stay put)...she observes the neighbor dogs and listens to the neighbor chickens.
I don't actually think chickens are legal in the city limit...but they don't bother anyone so OK..but I do know there is a 4 dog limit inside the city limits...just in case...

She aspires one day to be a runner (who comes back)  but for now though she is content with walks through the park close to her home and a lovely backyard full of grass, pillow stuffing and old pugs.

Mattie keeps watch from the porch.
New chews:  1 lamp cord (just now),
Barts leg and  yesterday had attempts at  a really good shoe.
Dislikes:  Loud noises, bags that make loud noises,
and anything  that makes loud noises. (this includes cameras and cars)
Likes:   Sleeping/laying by Ollie,  walking, Kibbles and Bits, her crate, the lounge chair on the back porch, snacks, walking, chewing bones (and other items too) scratching and rubbing, licking Bart ( he's not really  as happy about it as she is), sleeping in the bed (sometimes).  Her new family.

More to come......

I'm going on a doggie vaca.   The pug boys like this place so I've booked a room with play time and treats, I'll have a visual of my pug brothers and will get back to you with updates next week.

These eyes

These eyes say..."yes, I'm sweet and yes, I like you...BUT I'm gonna chew your stuff!"
Chew count unusable = 1 ipod computer docking cord
1 pair of Bolle Shades..loved by Mattie's mom
Chew count still usable = assorted yard cushions
TV remote ..much loved by Mattie's dad

Mattie meets bone.

"Good dog...please don't chew."

Duct tape

"Hark...I hear something!"

"I am sooo much smarter than a 5th grader"

"Blind boy got some lap time so I grabbed some too."
"I chewed his leg, but he didn't move over"
